Skilled Worker Grade 2 Assessment Test for the Food Service Industry

Regarding items to bring on the exam day

Please be sure to bring the following three items.

• Confirmation letter
• Passport (original)
• Residence card (original)

Calculators, clocks, and writing utensils cannot be brought into the examination room.
On the day of the examination, you may use the calculator on your computer, and scratch paper and a pen (or an electronic notepad) will be provided for use within the examination room.
Also, the remaining exam time will be displayed on the computer.

You can view the confirmation letter by logging into My Page, going to [Reservation Date and Time], then [Check Reservation Status], then clicking [Confirm] in the confirmation letter field. On the day of the exam, please present the printed confirmation letter or the screen of your smartphone.
Furthermore, the [reserved test date] will be displayed on your My Page within 24 hours of your test reservation. Please be aware that it may take some time for the information to be reflected.

On the day of the exam, those with the following numbers 1 to 10 cannot take the exam.

1. Unable to present the confirmation document
2. You have a photo or copy of your passport or residence card (you do not have the original).
3. I only brought my passport to the exam venue.^*1
4. I only brought my residence card to the exam venue.
5. The period of stay on the residence card has expired (expired)^*2
6. The name registered on my page does not match the passport MRZ.³
7. The passport you brought on the exam day and the date of birth and passport number you registered on your My Page are different.
8. The passport's validity has expired, or it is damaged or soiled, making the MRZ unreadable.³
9. The expiration date on the visa sticker affixed to the passport (the sticker stating the status of residence and period of stay) has expired.^*4
10. The facial photograph on the residence card has been edited via an app or otherwise, making it impossible for the facial recognition device at the test venue to determine that the facial photograph on the residence card and the face of the examinee are the same person.

*1) Those on a short-term stay who only have a passport do not need a residence card.

*2）Even if your residence card has expired, you can still take the exam if all of the following 1-3 apply. If any of them do not apply, you cannot take the exam.

1. I have the original residence card that has expired.
2. Have a "Processing" stamp on the back of your residence card, or bring an online application acceptance email from the Immigration Control Bureau (with your residence card number, name, and the sender of the email, stating that you are updating your residence card).
3. The Immigration Card Number Information Inquiry Site of the Immigration and Refugee AuthorityIn this case, by searching using the information from the residence card that you brought with you, you will see that it is not expired.

※3) Regarding the MRZ (Machine Readable Zone)

• The MRZ (Machine Readable Zone) is a two-line alphanumeric code printed below the passport's face.
• Please note that if the MRZ of the passport photo you are reading is missing or obscured by logos, reflections, or blurring, it may not be able to correctly read the passport information.
• The MRZ's surname is treated as the 'last name' before the '>>', and the "first name" after the '>>'.
• The information written on the MRZ may differ from the name and number printed on the ticket (Visual Inspection Zone: VIZ), but please do not adjust it to match the ticket notation and check that it is written exactly as it is on the MRZ.

Examples where the MRZ and VIZ names are different

Example 1) In Indonesian passports, the order of given name and surname is reversed between the visa page (VIZ) and the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ). Please ensure you register them in the order they appear in the MRZ. If the given name and surname are entered in an order different from what is written in the MRZ, you will not be able to take the exam.

Example 2) Passports from countries like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka may not have all the names written on the MRZ. However, when registering on My Page, please make sure to write the MRZ exactly as it is written on the MRZ. If you write anything different, you will not be able to take the exam.

Example 3) In a Myanmar passport, all the names are entered as 'name', and the 'surname' is left blank. If the names are all separated by a single '<' in the MRZ, please enter all the names as 'name' and leave the 'surname' blank. If the MRZ is different, you will not be allowed to take the exam.

*4) Even if there is a stamp indicating passport renewal in progress, you cannot take the exam if the expiration date on the visa issuance seal has passed.
Please take the exam after a new seal of verification has been issued or your residence card has been granted.

Things to check before the exam

• The name, date of birth, and passport number registered in my account are the same as the MRZ on the passport you will bring on the test day.(See *3 above)
  If you want to modify your registration information
  Please update your “Identity Verification Documents” from your My Page. After updating, you cannot take the exam unless it is approved in a re-review by OTAFF three business days before the exam (or four business days if the exam is on a weekend or holiday). If you update within one week of the exam date, please be sure to call OTAFF (03-6261-4949 weekdays 9:15–11:45, 13:15–17:00).

• If you are currently renewing your residence card,The Immigration Card Number Information Inquiry Site of the Immigration and Refugee AuthorityThen, on the day of the exam, I search for the residence card number and expiration date and if the inquiry result shows "It has not expired,"
  If the inquiry result does not display "Not expired."
  Since your residence card has expired, you cannot take the exam. Please take the exam after receiving a new residence card. You can change the exam date up to 3 business days before the exam (4 business days if the exam is on a weekend or holiday).

• Log in to your My Page and see if you can view the confirmation form (you can also bring a printed copy).
  If you present the confirmation form on the smartphone screen, please ensure that it is displayed at the reception. If you are unable to present the confirmation form for reasons such as being unable to log in to My Page, you will not be allowed to take the exam.
